I can't say for sure but I don't think it's a high priority right now for any developers

There is a RunUO server available with basic KR support, it just lets you log in and walk around.

Wyatt at ruosi.org claims that he has a full functional UO:KR server, but he has no plans on ever releasing so it may not even exist.

Honestly I could probably modify the RunUO code to work with the KR client but I am much more confident in SunUO dev team programming skills. So I hope they will make this a priority sometime soon.

Well, lets take a look on the legal side. What can OSI do to avoid public shard releases and source code? Here in Germany the copyright law is much constrictive for a public release. So it would be not wise for myself, to give away such things. Osi just has the rights to say, that a person should be punished because they have the copyrights.

Its not that easy as it did handled in last time. Runuo and Sunuo is private software which obviously never should come public. Thanks a lot for the programmers, that it is public for now. But OSI everytime is able to forbid such software.

To modify the code by reverse engineering the KR client is possible (everything is possible). But is it right? And what will OSI do when there are public pieces of code to support KR?

By the way: Why don't anybody try the Iris 3D Client? It works just out of the box and many improvements are possible because its open source...

Just my 2 cents.

hi maik,

my hope is, that someone uses our iris2 client. But i give it up, that people or shards support us. they cant imagine what an oss client means for the shard community. maybe my iris-online project push this a bit.

Yes, iris is a great work. Ok, its not officially supported by any emulator, but it works well. Some people give it a try:

Hi everybody...
Take a look at this one:
http://uodev.de/viewtopic.php?t=4996

Hope this will help you in KR Support developing. It's a pitty that official RunUO team doesn't want to support KR, hope you will make this!

Actually, I don't see why you can't use UOKR with SunUO right now. Believe it or not (if I've read correctly), with a little work, you can allow (or even require) UOKR on RunUO 2.0. I don't think ConnecUO works with UOKR (and I know UOGateway doesn't), but that's the price you pay for having the 3D graphics. :)

Edit: After reading the RunUO forums again for a bit my understanding is that this should be do-able simply adding the appropriate encryption keys to SunUO.xml, enabling or forcing encryption, and using (and having your players use) a special loader for UOKR. I don't know right off where to get this loader, nor do I know what the encryption keys are, but this should be a good starting point for anyone interested.

P.S. [s]I'll see if I can't dig up the UOKR patches on the RunUO forums.[/s] - There are none that I can find, other than a patch to allow normal OSI encryption, which SunUO already supports, and the RunUOKR Project on RunUOForge.
