Ok, I propose then a little discussion about implementing a full SunUO Solution: linux shard with SunUO + MySQL from Scratch. I did not complete the MySQL part in the documentation I made a while ago.

Maik wrote about mysql Integration on SunUO...we just need to compile it all =)

What do you guys think?

That it's a great idea, MySql may avoid some load to SunUO especially if the database could be located on another machine. In my opinion a generic support for database would be even greater because, for example, I would use SQLite or even a ORM database like Hibernate (even if it's slow).
I know it's very difficult a server like SunUO may have resources like two machines, a database and a speedy connection (because many shards are homemade with own computer which act as servers) however I think in great and could be very nice features like this (but of course these would not be main features or the main target of SunUO).

I think we can first create a "sunuo from scratch" tutorial, then we could find the best way to integrate sunuo + mysql...

What do you think? Do you have some documentation you did while in touch with sunUO?

I'm able to create a tutorial for let SunUO work with Linux because I used it only with Linux but until now I didn't tried to integrate it with MySql. I should try if I can find time (and I have not very much). Anyway I use Fedora 9 in all my computers (even at work), do you use a different distribution? Because it would be helpful write the tutorial for all the main distributions (Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian, and so on).

Ok, perfect...

I'll work on a debian sunuo server =)

Let's do this first and then we could create a mysql integration tutorial...

Blue,

BTW, we can use the template of my old documentation here: http://www.sunuo.org/download/sunuo/con ... NUO_en.txt

It's very old.
Anyway I have a question: do you think it's best to write a tutorial using distribution packet manager or thinking as computer would be offline (and, for example, have every package and compiling Mono by ourself)?
Or maybe both?
Fedora have a lot problems with it's repositories because Mono doesn't provide a official repos for this distribution so Mono is avaiable but a little bit old. Also last time I tried to compile Mono and MonoDevelop it was a massacre (the official download was poorly configured and many files were missing).
There are many features and changes since Fedora 9 so I think if I find time I will write the guide also for Fedora 8 which is similar to older distributions.
Well most of all I have to find the time...

Hummm...

Better download all sources and compile =)))

Well, I'll start the documentation using a virtual machine. You'll hear from me soon hehehehe

Doh!
I hate compiling Mono! The 1.0 version package have a lots of problems -_- maybe it's just on Fedora however is a blood bath.
Well... that's the main reason of making tutorials, isn't it?

Hu-oh, I can hear my boss' steps. Gotta go, I'll find the time for compile everything in my own machine. See you.
